The current prescription medication shortages have been mostly shrouded in mystery as many patients with chronic pain, anxiety, and other disorders have been unable to access medications that they may have been using without complications for years now.

Various restrictions and limits that have been enacted to combat earlier generations of the opioid addiction crisis has had immense fallout, including in accessing non-opioid medication and MAT, used to treat opioid addiction, and contributing to a more toxic illicit supply.

This is a result of the ongoing and ever-escalating war on drugs that fuels the stigma around opioids and other pharmaceutical drugs, and to some degree, the increasing hysteria around fentanyl and other deadly/harmful adulterants in illicit substances.
